500WS retreat in Kandersteg
November 2021
We enjoyed two days together getting to know each other, hiking, cooking, and spending long nights talking and having fun.
Moreover, we followed an excellent workshop by the coach Tanja Wranick, learning about negotiation skills, emotions management, and power games. Our very own Claudia Kasper also organized a series of joyful theater improvisation exercises!
We thank the University of Bern for the funding of the Promotion Fund Grant that helped us to make it possible!
A memorable experience is stored in everyone's heart and we hope to repeat it in 2022!

500WS at the Frauenstreik
Women in Science Flashmob
On June 14th, we decided to join the Frauenstreik by organizing a Women in Science flashmob.
This consisted of a series of short science talks given by 20 female scientists to increase the visibility of women scientists and normalize women experts as well as to make a point about the gender inequalities that exist in academia.
This performance was followed by several hundred women and was covered by several media outlets that you can read here, here, here and here. Among them, it is worth mentioning the appearance in Der Bund and the interview given by Dr. Claudia Kasper and Lucia Rotheray to the journal-b newspaper.

On-line Extravaganza
May2021
On the 20th of May, we had our third outreach event. Despite being compelled to use an online format, we had enthusiatic participants from all around the world!
Hand in hand with Dr Nadia Maaroufi and Serafina Calarco, we learned about the relevance of fungi in soils, and about the role of the endocannabinoid system in our body.
We are looking forward to seeing you next time in person!
