Dr. Julia Venturini
I am an astrophysicist working on the field of Exoplanets. I develop theoretical models and perform numerical simulations to understand how planets form.
I am originally from Uruguay, and I moved to Switzerland in 2012 to do my PhD at the University of Bern. Later I worked as a postdoc at the University of Zurich, and since a few years I am a postdoctoral fellow at the International Space Science Institute in Bern.
During my career, I have seen repeatedly how women leave academia (particularly after acquiring a PhD), and how little the institutions do to retain us. This is why I joined 500 WS, to help to promote women in science, and to give women scientists more visibility within the society.
