Dr. Oksana Iamshanova

I am a PostDoc at the Institute of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine at the University of Bern. My research focuses on the membrane proteins that allow transport of ions, named ion channels. Ion channels are present in all animal cells and regulate a diversity of physiological functions such as neuronal signaling, muscle contraction and immune cell response. Therefore, understanding of the abnormal ion channel activity is important for the treatment of various pathologies, including epilepsy, cardiovascular disease and even cancer.
