I am a molecular biologist originating from Spain. The interest on cellular signaling pathways brought me to Bern to perform my PhD, studying the resistance to chemotherapy treatments in different types of cancers. However, recently, I have had a crush on synthetic genomics, which lead me to the Institute of Veterinary Bacteriology. Here, I am now working as a postdoc using the yeast as a synthetic genomic platform to develop vaccines in the field of veterinary science.

I joined 500WS because I was a bit frustrated with the “still” low number of women in STEM careers and I felt a huge necessity to visualized our work more and feel proud of it. Being part of an association where we could cooperate to break the difficulties that our gender implies in scientific careers is something that really motivates me.
